Monsoon rains have intensified across Maharashtra, causing widespread flooding, landslides, and major disruptions in several districts. Heavy rainfall has severely affected areas like Pawana Maval, where overflowing rivers have submerged low-lying regions and cut off connectivity to several villages. Nashik remains under the highest alert, with the weather department warning of a possible cloudburst. As a precaution, schools, colleges, offices, and major temples, including Trimbakeshwar and Saptashrungi, have been closed. Landslides have disrupted major routes, including the Mumbai-Goa Highway and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, where large amounts of debris blocked traffic. In Pune, a weak two-storey building collapsed in the Peth area, but timely evacuation by the fire department prevented casualties. Thane has also faced severe waterlogging after Masunda Lake overflowed, affecting roads, markets, and court operations. Rescue teams evacuated stranded people in Lonavala and Vasai-Virar. Meanwhile, Mumbai continues to struggle with heavy rainfall, waterlogged roads and railway tracks, and disrupted daily life. Schools and colleges remain closed, while NDRF teams and the Navy’s Western Command are on high alert as authorities prepare for further rainfall.
