Maharashtra politics heated up after BJP leader Nitesh Rane launched a sharp and controversial attack on Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and the Thackeray brothers. Addressing a public gathering, Rane alleged that there was no difference between those who betrayed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and the Thackeray brothers, accusing them of conspiring to divide Hindus. He further claimed that the Thackerays were acting on instructions from “forces sitting in Pakistan,” a remark that has triggered strong political reactions. Rane also recalled the period when Uddhav Thackeray was the Chief Minister, alleging that he frequently pressured municipal officials to demolish Rane’s house. Referring to a recent incident, Rane said he gave a “special reaction” to ensure Thackeray remembered that his own residence, Matoshree, could also face action. The BJP leader additionally invoked historical references, accusing Jay Shirske of betraying Sambhaji Maharaj by providing information to the Mughals, and drew parallels with present-day political rivals. Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders have strongly condemned Rane’s remarks, calling them provocative and defamatory, while political tensions in the state continue to escalate.
