Mahadangal: Is Religion Being Used for Politics? Outrage Over Ramabhadracharya’s Statements | ABP NEWS

A major controversy has erupted after Hindu religious leader and Tulsi Peethadheeshwar Ramabhadracharya made provocative remarks during a religious event in Meerut. He claimed that Western Uttar Pradesh feels like “Mini Pakistan”, citing declining Hindu population and alleged demographic changes in the region. His comments have drawn sharp criticism from Muslim clerics, opposition leaders, and social activists. Critics argue that such divisive language from a religious figure is dangerous, especially in a communally sensitive area like Western UP, which has witnessed tensions in the past. Many accused Ramabhadracharya of fueling polarization to benefit the BJP, ahead of elections. The seer also courted controversy by calling Manusmriti the “first Indian Constitution” and criticized Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for burning it. He claimed Ambedkar opposed it due to lack of Sanskrit knowledge. These remarks angered Dalit leaders and activists, who accused him of insulting Ambedkar’s legacy and promoting caste-based discrimination. Additionally, Ramabhadracharya advocated for economic-based reservation, challenging the current caste-based system. While some supported his stand on cultural protection, others questioned whether a saint should make such politically charged and socially divisive statements. The uproar continues, with demands for accountability and responsible speech from religious figures.
