Lucknow Fire Tragedy: SIT and Forensic Teams Inspect Site, Four Arrested as Probe Deepens

The investigation into the devastating Lucknow Aliganj fire tragedy has intensified as Special Investigation Team (SIT) and forensic experts reached the accident site to conduct a detailed inspection of the multi-storey building where 15 young lives were lost. Officials are examining the ground, first, and upper floors to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify critical safety lapses that may have contributed to the scale of the disaster. Preliminary on-site observations suggest that multiple structural modifications, including iron grills, PVC fittings, false ceilings, and restricted access points, may have played a role in accelerating the spread of fire and smoke. Investigators are also reviewing claims that an automated locking system may have restricted movement on upper floors, while limited escape routes left occupants with few options during the emergency. Several victims were reportedly found in upper sections of the building where dense smoke accumulation led to suffocation. Authorities have already arrested four individuals, including the building owner, a coaching centre operator, and a pet shop owner. The premises are now under strict surveillance as both SIT and LDA teams continue their parallel investigations into regulatory approvals, fire safety compliance, and alleged misuse of a residential property for commercial activities. Senior officials have reiterated that the probe will cover all departments and responsibility points, and a detailed report will be submitted within the stipulated timeframe. Meanwhile, government representatives have assured strict action against all those found guilty, stating that no lapse will be ignored.
