During the Lok Sabha debate on the Anti Paper Leak Amendment Bill 2026, the Opposition raised serious concerns over the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and demanded major reforms in the examination system. The MP questioned NTA’s accountability, citing its revenue of around ₹3,554 crore between 2019-20 and 2023-24 and alleging that the agency lacks adequate oversight despite conducting exams for millions of students. He highlighted the pressure faced by youth due to limited government job opportunities and claimed that paper leaks have pushed many students into stress and uncertainty. The Opposition demanded independent audits of NTA, an end to third-party outsourcing at exam centres, stronger digital security, facial recognition, Aadhaar verification, and global-standard testing models like SAT and GRE. He alleged that the new law focuses on small offenders while ignoring systemic failures. The government defended the bill, saying it will strengthen exam security and prevent unfair practices. The debate continued in Lok Sabha, with Rahul Gandhi expected to participate.
