Law and order situation: Lucknow fort dispute escalates between Pasi and Muslim communities

A dispute has escalated in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, over a ruined fort linked to Raja Kansa Pasi. The conflict involves two communities with opposing claims about the site’s identity and usage. The Pasi community has recently come forward asserting that the structure is a historical fort belonging to Raja Kansa Pasi and not a mosque or mausoleum. They are demanding that the site be declared a heritage monument and developed as a tourist place. They also oppose the offering of Friday prayers at the location. On the other hand, members of the Muslim community have traditionally considered the site a mausoleum and have been offering prayers there for years. The situation has led to heightened tensions, prompting local authorities to deploy heavy police security around the area to maintain law and order. According to reports, a group representing the Pasi community has written to the Chief Minister expressing their concerns and demanding restrictions on religious activities at the site. As Friday prayers approached, uncertainty remained regarding whether prayers would take place, as police continued monitoring the situation closely to prevent any escalation or conflict between the groups.
