J&K Weather Alert: Storm Uproots Trees in Gulmarg, Massive Fire Engulfs House in Himachal’s Kullu

Severe weather conditions triggered chaos in parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, with strong winds uprooting trees in Gulmarg and a massive fire destroying a residential structure in Kullu. The incidents have raised fresh concerns about extreme weather events impacting popular tourist destinations in the Himalayan region. In Jammu & Kashmir’s Baramulla district, powerful winds swept through the Gulmarg area, uprooting several large trees and disrupting normal life. One Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was reportedly injured after being struck during the storm. Fallen trees blocked key roads, bringing traffic movement to a standstill and causing inconvenience to residents and tourists. Local authorities and residents were seen working together to clear the debris and restore connectivity. Gulmarg, one of Kashmir’s most visited tourist destinations, witnessed scenes of panic as strong winds damaged infrastructure and affected transportation routes. Videos from the area showed large trees collapsing onto roads, highlighting the intensity of the weather conditions. Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, a massive fire broke out in the Shakti area of the Sainj Valley. The blaze rapidly engulfed a wooden house, with flames spreading quickly due to the structure’s timber construction. Thick plumes of smoke could be seen rising into the sky as local residents gathered at the scene. Firefighting efforts were launched to contain the blaze, and no loss of life has been reported so far. The incidents come amid growing concerns over forest fires and extreme weather conditions across several hill states. Large stretches of forested areas have reportedly been affected by fire, posing threats to wildlife, vegetation, and nearby human settlements. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely while urging residents and tourists to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions.
