Jharkhand Politics: BJP Corners Hemant Soren in Assembly Over JPSC-JSSC Row, Seeks Resignation

The Jharkhand Assembly witnessed high political drama as the Monsoon Session began with the opposition launching a strong protest over the alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations. BJP legislators staged demonstrations inside the Assembly premises, carrying banners and posters demanding accountability and calling for Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s resignation over the recruitment controversy. Opposition members expressed solidarity with students who have been protesting in Ranchi for nearly two weeks, alleging that the recruitment process compromised the future of thousands of aspirants. BJP leaders demanded a court-monitored CBI investigation into the alleged examination irregularities, arguing that the ongoing CID probe would not inspire public confidence. They also questioned the government’s handling of the issue and urged the Chief Minister to make a detailed statement in the Assembly. During the protest, opposition leaders displayed posters carrying allegations of corruption in government recruitment and reiterated claims that examination-related irregularities extended across multiple recruitment processes. These allegations remain unproven, and the state government has not accepted them. The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has maintained that the state government is already taking action through the CID investigation, under which 19 arrests have been made so far. The government has also highlighted the resignation of the former JPSC chairman and ongoing investigations as evidence that legal action is underway.
