A major development in Bihar politics has emerged from the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) camp. A high-level meeting took place at Tejashwi Yadav’s residence in Patna, where sources reveal a tentative seat-sharing formula has been agreed upon. The Congress, which initially demanded 70 seats, is likely to contest 66 seats in the upcoming elections. The alliance currently includes RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), CPM, CPI, and VIP. Talks are ongoing to include JMM and RLJP, led by Pashupati Paras. This agreement marks a shift from earlier speculation that Congress’s seat count could be reduced due to poor performance in 2020, where it won only 19 out of 70 seats. However, its recent Voter Adhikar Yatra and strategic pressure over Tejashwi’s CM candidacy seem to have boosted its bargaining power. Meanwhile, Kerala Congress’s social media head VT Balram resigned following backlash over a controversial post comparing Bihar and beedis.
