Ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, Jammu Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) launched a major anti-drug cordon and search operation in the Arnia sector along the India-Pakistan international border. Joint security teams conducted raids at 10–15 locations in sensitive border villages, including Kulla Kala, Salehar Kothe, and Chak Jakhu, targeting suspected drug traffickers and illegal liquor manufacturers. The operation comes amid intelligence inputs warning of possible attempts to create unrest before the pilgrimage. The Arnia sector has previously witnessed cross-border attempts to smuggle drugs and weapons using drones. Security agencies have stepped up surveillance and enforcement to curb narcotics networks and ensure a safe and peaceful environment for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
