INFRA UPDATE: Gorakhpur International Cricket Stadium Laid, CM Yogi Attends Ceremony

The foundation stone of the proposed International Cricket Stadium in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, was laid today in a grand ceremony attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Union Minister Kamlesh Paswan. The event marked a significant push towards sports infrastructure development in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed gratitude towards Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri for his support in advancing the project. The Chief Minister highlighted that the stadium project received a financial commitment of ₹100 crore, which he credited to Puri’s approval during his tenure in the central government. He noted that the initiative was the result of coordinated efforts between the state and central leadership aimed at promoting sports facilities in the region. The Chief Minister stated that the project reflects a broader vision to provide modern sporting infrastructure for the youth of eastern Uttar Pradesh and to create opportunities for emerging athletes. He emphasized that Gorakhpur’s international cricket stadium will serve as a major landmark for sports development and talent nurturing in the state. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, who attended the ceremony, was welcomed and felicitated by the state leadership for his contribution to the project. The presence of multiple dignitaries underscored the significance of the initiative, which is expected to enhance the sporting ecosystem in the region and provide a platform for national and international cricket events in the future. Local leaders and sports enthusiasts present at the event described the foundation laying as a transformative step for Gorakhpur, which has been witnessing rapid infrastructure development in recent years.
