A major police encounter in Gurugram ended with four alleged shooters linked to the Deepak Nandal gang being killed and another injured after an intense exchange of fire with the Crime Branch. The operation unfolded in the city’s upscale Sushant Lok area, where the suspects had allegedly arrived to intimidate a property dealer over an extortion demand. According to police, the accused had reportedly opened fire near the businessman’s residence after he refused to pay extortion money. Acting on prior intelligence, Crime Branch teams reached the location and surrounded the suspects, asking them to surrender. Officials say the accused instead fired at the police, triggering a fierce gun battle. Police stated that nearly 60 rounds were exchanged during the encounter. Three police personnel also sustained injuries during the operation. The four injured suspects were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead, while another accused remains under medical treatment. A fresh video from the encounter site has surfaced, showing heavily armed police personnel taking positions around the suspects’ vehicle during the operation. The footage has drawn widespread attention as investigators continue examining the sequence of events. Authorities believe the accused were associated with the Deepak Nandal gang, which investigators allege is involved in extortion and organized criminal activities. Police also claim the gang is operated from abroad, with local shooters allegedly carrying out attacks and intimidation on behalf of the syndicate. The encounter has once again highlighted concerns over organized crime and extortion networks operating in the National Capital Region. Investigators are now expected to examine the gang’s wider network, financial links, and communication channels while collecting forensic and ballistic evidence from the encounter site as part of the ongoing investigation.
