Ex-Coal Minister In Manmohan Singh Cabinet, Sriprakash Jaiswal Passes Away At 81

Senior Congress leader and former Kanpur MP Sriprakash Jaiswal has passed away at the age of 81. He had been unwell for a long time and breathed his last on Friday, November 28.

Jaiswal’s condition suddenly worsened on Friday, following which he was rushed to the Kanpur Cardiology Hospital. Doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Held Key Portfolios in UPA Government

Jaiswal served as Union Coal Minister and also held the post of Minister of State for Home Affairs during the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government. His passing has left a deep void in political circles, especially in his hometown Kanpur.
