Delhi Air Pollution: Delhi Turns Gas Chamber as AQI Crosses 550, GRAP-IV Restrictions Enforced Across NCR

Delhi’s air quality has deteriorated sharply, forcing the Commission for Air Quality Management to impose GRAP-IV restrictions across the capital and NCR. According to official data from the SAFAR app, Delhi’s overall AQI has surged to around 457, placing it in the “severe” category. Several areas, including Jahangirpuri and Bawana, recorded AQI levels close to 490, while parts of Greater Noida reportedly crossed 700, indicating extremely hazardous air. Thick smog has reduced visibility on roads and highways, slowing traffic movement. Under GRAP-IV, strict curbs have been enforced, including restrictions on truck entry, a ban on construction activities, and hybrid classes for schools except Classes 10 and 12. Authorities have advised children, elderly people, and pregnant women to stay indoors as breathing outdoor air poses serious health risks.
