Crime Alert: Howrah and Murshidabad Rocked by Bomb Blasts Amid Political Clashes in Bengal

Tension continues in West Bengal as fresh incidents of violence and bomb blasts have been reported from multiple districts, including Howrah and Murshidabad. The incidents have once again raised serious concerns over law and order in the state amid ongoing political tensions between rival groups. In Howrah’s Shivpur area, clashes allegedly broke out between supporters of opposing political parties, which escalated into bomb attacks. Eyewitness accounts and visuals from the spot reportedly show panic and smoke following multiple crude bomb explosions. Several residents were seen fleeing the area, while others remained confined indoors due to fear. Two individuals from one political group were reportedly injured in the incident. Following the violence, police and Rapid Action Force personnel rushed to the site and brought the situation under control. The area was heavily secured to prevent further escalation, and search operations were carried out to identify those involved in the clashes. In a separate incident in Murshidabad, a crude bomb explosion occurred during an attempt to dispose of explosive material near a water body. During the blast, a youth identified as Ramzan Sheikh sustained severe injuries, including serious damage to both hands. He was immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment. Preliminary police investigation suggests that explosives were stored near the site, and one person had been detained earlier in connection with the case. Authorities believe the explosion occurred accidentally while attempting to move or dismantle the devices. Security forces have intensified patrolling in sensitive areas as investigations continue into both incidents. Officials are examining the possibility of links between local disputes and the recent surge in violent episodes across the region.
