Mumbai viral girl Riya Ahir has approached the Cyber Crime Branch after allegedly receiving online threats and abusive messages on social media. Riya, who gained public attention after a video of her standing up during a student protest went viral, claimed that harassment began shortly after she became widely known online. According to Riya, several social media users allegedly posted offensive comments, targeted her with abusive language, and attempted to damage her reputation through manipulated images. She said she initially filed an online complaint through the cyber crime portal and later visited the Cyber Crime Branch office to formally record her statement. Riya stated that she wants strict action against those responsible and urged people to understand the difference between criticism and online harassment. She said that while everyone has the right to express opinions, no one has the right to insult, defame, threaten, or spread harmful content against any individual. Cyber officials have reportedly assured that the matter will be investigated. Authorities will examine the social media posts, identify accounts involved in alleged harassment, and take action according to the law if violations are confirmed. The case has renewed discussions around online safety, cyberbullying, and protection of individuals facing digital abuse. As social media platforms continue to play a major role in public conversations, incidents involving threats and misuse of personal images remain a growing concern.
