The political row in West Bengal intensified after Mamata Banerjee alleged serious irregularities at strong rooms ahead of vote counting. She claimed there were complaints of tampering inside EVM storage areas and said CCTV footage showed suspicious activity. Banerjee also accused central forces of initially denying her entry despite her rights as a candidate, and alleged bias, wrongful action against TMC agents, and pressure on the Election Commission of India. She further claimed exit polls were influenced by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The controversy began after All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) shared CCTV footage alleging unauthorized handling of ballot materials. However, the Election Commission rejected all allegations, clarifying that the activity shown was part of a standard postal ballot process conducted with prior notice to all parties. While tensions led to protests and clashes between TMC and BJP workers, the situation later calmed, though political accusations and counterclaims continue.
