The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has issued an official statement on the killing of Chandranath Rath, personal assistant of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, in West Bengal. The party condemned the murder and also mentioned the killing of three TMC workers, calling for an impartial investigation. In its statement shared on social media, TMC alleged that BJP-backed miscreants were responsible for the violence and demanded a court-monitored CBI probe, stating that there is no place for violence in democracy, even during the enforcement of the model code of conduct. Meanwhile, West Bengal Police has already begun its investigation. The DGP stated that a motorcycle used in the crime has been seized, along with live cartridges and spent shells recovered from the scene. He also confirmed that a four-wheeler involved in the attack was found to have a fake and tampered number plate. Eyewitness statements and forensic evidence are being examined as the probe continues. Political tensions remain high as both BJP and TMC trade accusations while demanding strict action.
