Breaking: Students riot at VIT Sehore over unsafe food, water; vehicles torched in midnight chaos

Chaos erupted at VIT University in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, as students launched a violent protest late at night demanding safe food and clean drinking water. Videos of the unrest, now viral on social media, show angry students vandalising campus property, overturning vehicles, and setting a bus on fire. Students allege that despite repeated complaints, the administration ignored their worsening health conditions. Several hostellers reportedly fell ill, and medical tests revealed symptoms of jaundice in some students, who are currently receiving treatment. Protesters claim that the food and water supplied in the hostels are of extremely poor quality, leading to multiple hospitalisations. Following the unrest, university officials and a large police force reached the campus to control the situation. Authorities have assured the students that their demands will be reviewed and necessary action will be taken. Visuals from the scene show students expressing anger, saying the administration failed to address basic safety and hygiene issues. Meanwhile, in Jammu and Kashmir, women in several localities continue protesting against the installation of prepaid smart meters. Despite resistance, officials say over 80% of old meters have already been replaced.
