Breaking News: UP Dy CM Brijesh Pathak Slams Insult to Brahmins, Calls Shikha Touch a Grave Crime

In a major political and cultural statement, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak condemned the alleged mistreatment of Brahmin priests in Prayagraj on January 18 during Mauni Amavasya. Reports indicate that Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand was prevented from performing the sacred Sangam bath, and some young Brahmin priests, or batuks, were allegedly manhandled and taken into police custody. Addressing the incident, Pathak stressed that touching or pulling a Brahmin’s shikha (topknot) is a serious offense and a violation of Hindu religious customs. “Those who committed this act have committed a grave sin and must face the strictest punishment,” he stated. He confirmed that all accused, including police personnel, are being identified and strict action will be taken. Pathak emphasized that the matter reflects deep disrespect towards Hindu faith and traditions, asserting that accountability is being meticulously tracked and justice will be ensured. The controversy has sparked political and social debates across the state, with authorities under scrutiny for their role in the incident. Observers say this strong stance signals the government’s intent to uphold religious and cultural sanctity.
