The controversy surrounding former Bareilly City Magistrate Alankar Agnihotri has taken a new turn as he staged a sit-in protest at the gate of the District Magistrate’s office. The protest comes amid ongoing tension following his resignation and subsequent suspension. Alankar Agnihotri has been at the center of a political and administrative storm after linking his resignation to the Swami Avimukteshwar controversy and opposing the new UGC rules. By sitting on a dharna at the DM office gate, Alankar openly challenged the state administration, drawing attention from political circles and the media. Opposition parties, including the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, have once again targeted the Yogi Adityanath government, accusing it of suppressing dissent and mishandling the situation. Supporters of Alankar Agnihotri claim that his protest reflects anger against what they describe as injustice and misuse of power by the administration. Earlier, Alankar had alleged that he was unfairly treated by the Bareilly administration and that his voice was being deliberately silenced. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government maintains that all actions taken against him are strictly based on administrative rules and disciplinary procedures. Security was heightened around the DM office during the protest to prevent any law-and-order situation. The case continues to escalate, keeping the political temperature in Uttar Pradesh high as investigations and political reactions continue.
