A major incident was reported from Pune, Maharashtra, where a massive crowd gathered at Shivneri Fort on the occasion of Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary. The fort, known as the birthplace of Shivaji Maharaj, witnessed an uncontrolled surge of devotees, leading to a stampede-like situation. Several people, including women and children, were injured in the chaos. According to local sources, the crowd swelled far beyond expectations, and the available police force and security arrangements proved inadequate to manage the situation. Although Shiv Jayanti draws large gatherings every year, questions are now being raised about whether authorities had made sufficient preparations, including crowd control measures, barricading, and entry-exit management plans. Officials later brought the situation under control, but not before multiple individuals sustained injuries. The injured are currently undergoing treatment. Local residents have demanded better planning for future large-scale events, emphasizing the need for stronger security deployment and structured crowd management to prevent such incidents. Authorities are expected to review the arrangements and investigate whether any negligence contributed to the mishap.
