Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand’s disciple, Das Vishwanand Brahmachari, has revealed his harrowing experience to ABP News regarding the mistreatment he faced during the Magh Mela. He explained that while performing a ritualistic bath at the Sangam on Muni Amavasya, he and other disciples were subjected to unprovoked brutality by administrative authorities. Brahmachari stressed that they were unarmed, committed no wrongdoing, and were solely focused on honoring their spiritual duties. He described how sacred symbols like the Shikha and the Gayatri thread were insulted, causing deep religious offense. A photograph capturing part of this incident went viral, prompting Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand to remain outside his camp in protest, refusing to enter until his demands are met. Other disciples have called the incident a planned conspiracy and have urged Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to intervene. Brahmachari criticized the administration for ignoring religious protocols and overriding spiritual authority, emphasizing that even legal or administrative procedures should respect the sanctity of spiritual leaders and Vedic traditions. The incident has sparked widespread discussion about religious rights, administrative accountability, and respect for sacred customs in India.
