A search operation is ongoing in Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir, after an encounter with militants left eight security personnel injured. The clash occurred when a joint team of Indian Army, J&K Police, and paramilitary forces carried out a search operation based on intelligence inputs. Militants reportedly ambushed the forces from higher ground and threw grenades, injuring eight soldiers, three of whom have been shifted to the Military Hospital in Udhampur for treatment. The rugged, forested terrain of Kishtwar and extreme cold are making the operation challenging. Overnight, the area was cordoned off, and today forces resumed a large-scale search using drones, helicopters, and ground teams to locate the hiding militants. Authorities have urged locals to avoid operational zones. Security agencies are determined to neutralize the threat and ensure safety in the region. The operation highlights ongoing counter-terror efforts in Jammu & Kashmir amid persistent militant activity.
