Breaking News: Narendra Modi, Amit Shah lead Bengal push before phase 2 polls

Campaigning for the second and final phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections has reached its peak, with top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party intensifying efforts across key constituencies. Voting for 142 seats is scheduled on April 29, making it a decisive stage in the electoral battle. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a major rally in Barrackpore, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are holding large-scale roadshows in different parts of the state, including North 24 Parganas. The BJP is making an aggressive push to expand its presence in regions traditionally dominated by the All India Trinamool Congress. This phase is particularly significant as 123 out of these 142 seats were won by the Trinamool Congress in the previous election, while the BJP secured only a limited share. The party is now aiming to breach this stronghold and strengthen its political footing in the state. Meanwhile, tensions have been reported in areas like Bhatpara and Jagatdal, where clashes between BJP and Trinamool supporters allegedly left several people injured. BJP leaders have raised concerns over security and accused rivals of attempting to disrupt campaign events, including the Prime Minister’s rally. Despite these challenges, BJP leaders continue to project confidence, asserting that the party will secure a strong majority and form the next government in West Bengal. As campaigning concludes, all eyes are now on voter turnout and the outcome of this crucial phase.
