The danger posed by open sewers and uncovered drains in Delhi has once again turned fatal. A 32-year-old man, identified as Birju Kumar, lost his life after falling into an open drain near Mahashakti Kali Temple in Begumpur, Sector 32, Rohini. Birju Kumar, a native of Samastipur, Bihar, worked as a daily wage laborer in Delhi. According to initial information, the incident occurred on Monday evening, but the police were informed only on Tuesday at around 2:30 PM. After receiving the alert, teams from the Delhi Police and Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Following an extensive search effort, Birju Kumar was pulled out of the drain. Unfortunately, by the time he was recovered, he had already died. The tragic incident has once again raised serious concerns about civic negligence and the ongoing threat posed by uncovered drains and unsafe infrastructure in the national capital. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the delay in reporting and safety measures in the area.
