In a major development in the infamous “land-for-job” scam, a court has framed charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav, his family, and 40 others for allegedly taking land in exchange for employment. According to the court, several individuals were given jobs in the railway sector while their land or that of their family members was taken in return. Initially, there were 98 accused, out of which charges against 52 were dropped, and five accused had already died, leading to dismissal of charges against them. The court noted that Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family were part of the criminal conspiracy. The next hearing to formally proceed with the charges is scheduled for January 29, 2026. The case has sparked political debate, with accusations of manipulation and conspiracy being directed at central authorities.
