Breaking News: India Clinches 9th Asia Cup Title, Rejects Trophy from Pakistan’s Mohsin Naqvi | ABP NEWS

In a high-octane Asia Cup 2025 final, Team India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in Dubai, claiming their ninth Asia Cup title. While the victory sparked celebrations across India and the Indian diaspora globally, controversy overshadowed the post-match ceremony. The Indian team refused to accept the winner’s trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the Pakistan Home Minister and ACC Chairman. BCCI clarified that the team won’t accept a trophy from a leader representing a country waging war against India. As a result, Team India left without receiving the trophy or medals, which were allegedly taken back to Pakistan. The decision drew political reactions at home. BJP hailed the move as patriotic, while opposition parties including AAP and Shiv Sena labeled it “drama” and “propaganda.” Tensions flared further after reports claimed Pakistani captain pledged match earnings to families of terrorists killed in India’s Operation Sindoor. In contrast, India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav donated his tournament earnings to the Indian Army, a move widely praised. The episode has ignited a fresh round of political blame games, with BJP accusing Congress of remaining silent on India’s win. Despite the controversy, one thing is clear — India remains the undisputed cricketing king of Asia.
