Breaking News: Himachal vs Delhi Police: High-Voltage Standoff Over AI Summit Arrests

A tense standoff unfolded in Himachal Pradesh late at night as Delhi Police attempted to take three Youth Congressworkers into custody for their involvement in the AI Summit protests. The confrontation escalated due to procedural lapses and lack of coordination between the two state police forces. Himachal Pradesh Police repeatedly stopped Delhi Police at multiple points—including Rohru, Shoghi, and Solan—citing incomplete documentation and local jurisdictional concerns. After hours of arguments, the matter was resolved formally, and the Delhi Police team resumed their journey to Delhi. During the transit, the three accused were taken to Ambala Civil Hospital in Haryana for mandatory medical examinations, a standard legal procedure before court presentation. This move also highlighted inter-state coordination challenges, as Delhi Police had not initially conducted the medical in Himachal, leading to further disputes. The incident has sparked political reactions, with Jai Ram Thakur criticizing the state government, accusing officials of following political directives instead of following protocol. An FIR has been registered in Chidgaon against Delhi Police for alleged abduction and procedural violations. The case underscores tensions in law enforcement when political dynamics intersect with procedural requirements.
