BREAKING NEWS: Delhi Police Confirms Sonam Wangchuk Shifted to Hospital Under High Court Order

Delhi Police has confirmed that activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted from the Jantar Mantar protest site to a nearby government hospital under the directions of the Delhi High Court and following medical advice. New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma stated that Wangchuk was moved for necessary medical intervention and has been placed under medical supervision. According to the police, the decision was taken after doctors assessed Wangchuk’s health condition during his prolonged hunger strike. Officials said medical experts advised that continued fasting could further impact his health, leading authorities to arrange hospitalisation for proper monitoring and treatment. The development took place after heavy security deployment was seen at Jantar Mantar. Police personnel, paramilitary forces, and other security units were stationed at the protest location as authorities carried out the process. Following Wangchuk’s removal, Delhi Police appealed to protesters to peacefully vacate the area. Eyewitness accounts from the protest site indicated that a medical team arrived in the morning and discussions took place regarding Wangchuk’s health. Reports suggested that Wangchuk initially did not agree to leave the protest venue, but authorities proceeded after concerns over his deteriorating condition and medical recommendations.
