Breaking News: Bridge Collapses in Cooch Behar’s Sheetal Kuchi, Traffic Disrupted

A major incident has occurred in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district, where a portion of a bridge in Sheetal Kuchi collapsed. Part of the bridge broke and was hanging precariously, causing traffic disruption in the Devanath Para area. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries so far. The bridge collapse has raised concerns over infrastructure maintenance in the state. Local residents and political leaders have criticized the state government for failing to ensure proper repairs. Baren Chandra Barman, MLA from Sheetal Kuchi, directly blamed the Mamata Banerjee-led government for the incident, stating that the bridge had not been repaired despite repeated warnings, and the negligence could have endangered lives. The accident highlights ongoing issues regarding the safety of public infrastructure in West Bengal. Authorities are yet to comment on the causes of the collapse, and emergency services are working to restore traffic flow and assess the structural integrity of the bridge. The incident has also sparked political debates, with opposition parties pointing to government inaction and oversight failures. The situation remains under close observation as authorities work to prevent further risks and ensure public safety.
