Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle has passed away at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after suffering from age-related complications and multi-organ failure. She was admitted a day earlier when her health deteriorated, and despite medical care, she could not be revived. Her family confirmed the news and shared details of the last rites, requesting people to pay respects in an orderly manner. Her mortal remains will be kept at her Worli residence (Casa Grande, Lower Parel) tomorrow at 11 AM for public viewing. The final cremation will take place at Shivaji Park at 4 PM. Mumbai Police has deployed tight security arrangements at both locations due to expected large crowds of fans, dignitaries, and music industry personalities. Born in 1933 in Sangli, Maharashtra, Asha Bhosle was one of India’s most iconic singers, honoured with the Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Known for her versatility, she carved her own identity despite living in the shadow of her sister Lata Mangeshkar. Her passing marks a huge loss to Indian music, and tributes are pouring in from across the nation.
