Breaking News: Administration Scrambles to Persuade Shankaracharya Vimukteshwaranand Ahead of Maghi Mela

The controversy surrounding Shankaracharya Swami Vimukteshwaranand continues, and the administration is making concerted efforts to persuade him to participate in the Sangam bath during the Maghi Mela. Sources reveal that senior officials are acting as mediators, attempting to resolve the deadlock with respect and diplomacy. Swami Vimukteshwaranand, who had left Prayagraj for Varanasi on January 28 after protesting since the Muni Amavasya bath incident on January 18, is currently in Varanasi with his disciples. The dispute arose when clashes occurred between him and the police during his ceremonial procession to the Sangam. The Shankaracharya has set two key conditions for his participation: a public apology from officers involved in the altercation with his disciples, and the establishment of a formal bathing protocol for all four Shankaracharyas. While officials have reportedly agreed in principle to these demands, the Swami has yet to grant final approval. Today at 11:30 AM, he is scheduled to hold a press conference in Varanasi, where he is expected to clarify his position and make a decision regarding the Sangam bath. The administration is under pressure to meet his conditions and ensure the festival proceeds smoothly without further controversy.
