Fresh violence was reported during protests in Delhi on Tuesday night, leaving several police personnel injured, including ACP Vivek Bhagat. According to police, the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near Jantar Mantar when security personnel were attempting to control an advancing crowd. Officials said ACP Bhagat sustained multiple injuries, including reported rib and leg injuries, after being allegedly assaulted during the clashes. He was initially treated and is now under medical observation at AIIMS, where his condition is reported to be stable. Videos from the scene show fellow police personnel escorting the injured officer away from the protest site. Authorities also stated that several other officers were hurt during stone-pelting and physical confrontations. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining videos to identify those responsible for the violence. The clashes have raised fresh concerns over security at protest sites, with authorities alleging that anti-social elements infiltrated the demonstration and targeted both police personnel and media representatives.
