Breaking: Modi Leads Historic Bengal Shift as Suvendu Adhikari Takes Oath as BJP’s First CM

West Bengal witnessed a historic political transformation as BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was officially chosen as the state’s new Chief Minister, marking the party’s first-ever government in Bengal. The announcement was made in Kolkata by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the BJP legislature party meeting held in the presence of newly elected MLAs and senior party leaders. The swearing-in ceremony at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground turned into a massive political spectacle, drawing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior Union ministers, BJP chief ministers from multiple states, and thousands of party workers. The venue was decorated with saffron themes, cultural motifs of Bengal, and giant displays celebrating the party’s landslide victory. Amit Shah described the mandate as a turning point in Bengal’s political history and said the BJP government would focus on “fear-free governance,” development, and fulfilling promises made during the election campaign. Shah also launched sharp attacks on the Congress and Trinamool Congress, accusing them of questioning democratic institutions after defeat. Suvendu Adhikari, who defeated Mamata Banerjee earlier and emerged as BJP’s strongest face in Bengal politics, pledged to build a “Sonar Bangla” under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. BJP leaders projected the victory as the culmination of a long ideological journey beginning with Syama Prasad Mookerjee. Scenes from Kolkata reflected intense public enthusiasm, with BJP supporters chanting slogans, waving saffron flags, and celebrating what the party called a “new dawn” for Bengal. The event also highlighted BJP’s expanding political footprint across eastern India, with leaders emphasizing that the party now governs continuously from “Gangotri to Gangasagar.” The new cabinet is expected to include several prominent BJP faces from Bengal, including Agnimitra Paul, Dilip Ghosh, and Swapan Dasgupta.
