Breaking: ICC Rejects PCB Demand To Remove Referee After Handshake Controversy

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has firmly rejected Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) demand to remove the match referee following the recent handshake controversy during the Asia Cup. PCB had alleged that referee Andre Pycroft mishandled the situation when Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to shake hands with Pakistan’s skipper before the game. Calling the allegations “baseless,” ICC confirmed that the referee will continue his duties for the remainder of the tournament. This development is seen as a major setback for PCB, which had earlier threatened to withdraw from the series if its demands were not met. Sources suggest the board’s complaint was viewed as an attempt to shift attention away from Pakistan’s poor on-field performance. While India and other member boards continue their participation without objection, PCB is now left to decide whether it will play its upcoming fixture against UAE or stick to its withdrawal threat. The ICC’s clear stance has placed the spotlight back on PCB, raising questions over whether its stand was about sportsmanship or politics. For now, the ball is back in Pakistan’s court.
