Breaking: Delhi’s Anti-Pollution Rules Take Effect, Ground Reality Raises Questions on Enforcement

Delhi’s fight against toxic air enters a critical phase as the government’s four new anti-pollution rules come into force today. Vehicles from other states below BS6 norms are barred from entry, fuel supply without a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate is prohibited, construction material vehicles are restricted, and offices are operating with 50% work-from-home staff. However, a ground reality check reveals gaps in implementation. At several petrol pumps, fuel is reportedly being provided without checking PUC certificates, raising concerns over compliance. With 16 checkpoints, hundreds of police personnel, and transport teams deployed, questions remain about how effective these measures will be in curbing Delhi’s severe air pollution and providing real relief to residents.
