West Bengal BJP leader Shuvendu Adhikari’s PA Chandranath Rath, who was shot dead in Madhyamgram, is undergoing postmortem at Barasat Medical College. The process began around 10 AM and is nearly complete. Shuvendu Adhikari himself is present at the hospital, and BJP workers have gathered to pay tribute. After the postmortem, the body will be taken to his ancestral village Chandipur for final rites. Reports suggest Chandranath Rath was hit by six bullets, five of which struck his body and one hit his phone. He died on the spot, while his driver was also critically injured and initially treated locally before being shifted to a hospital in Kolkata. His condition remains serious. Chandranath had a close long-standing association with Shuvendu Adhikari since 2019 and later joined BJP with him in 2020. He handled important administrative and personal responsibilities for the leader. Police investigation continues, while CCTV analysis and ground-level probe are underway to determine the attackers and motive behind the targeted killing.
