A major development has emerged from Indian cricket as the BCCI has reportedly asked Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL squad. Mustafizur, the only Bangladeshi player bought in the IPL auction, was signed by KKR for ₹9.20 crore. His inclusion had sparked protests from several organisations and political parties amid rising tensions and concerns over incidents in Bangladesh. Sources say BCCI exercised its special powers and informed KKR that they may release the player and will be allowed to sign a replacement if required. While no official reason has been detailed in writing, the move could have wider implications on India–Bangladesh cricket relations, including future bilateral series.
