The BJP-led Mahayuti has registered a massive victory in the Maharashtra municipal elections, once again strengthening its political dominance in the state. Out of 29 municipal corporations, the Mahayuti secured decisive wins in 25, ensuring that mayors in these bodies will be from the BJP alliance. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis termed the result a “victory of development” and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, stating that Maharashtra has shown immense trust in Modi’s leadership. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the mandate reflects public faith in development-focused politics and reiterated the commitment to make Mumbai the world’s number one city. Celebrations were seen at the BJP headquarters as the results marked a historic moment—especially in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), where the BJP alliance has secured 118 of 227 seats, ending the Thackeray family’s three-decade-long dominance and paving the way for a BJP mayor after 30 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the NDA, saying on X that Maharashtra has blessed the NDA agenda and strengthened its bond with the people, who endorsed the vision of development.
