A major political churn appears to be unfolding in Bihar as speculation intensifies about Chief Minister Nitish Kumarpossibly filing his nomination for the Rajya Sabha. Although the Janata Dal (United) has not officially confirmed the move, the political buzz has already triggered strong reactions among party workers and observers across the state. The situation has gained further momentum with reports that Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, may formally step into politics by joining JD(U), marking a significant development given Nitish Kumar’s long-standing public stance against dynastic politics. Meanwhile, newly appointed Bharatiya Janata Party state president Nitin Nabin also visited a Hanuman temple in Patna to offer prayers ahead of filing his nomination for the Upper House. Tensions escalated outside the Chief Minister’s residence where large numbers of JD(U) supporters gathered to protest the possibility of Nitish Kumar leaving state politics. Some workers reportedly blocked leaders and forced vehicles carrying figures such as Zama Khan and Krishna Murari Sharan to turn back amid rising anger. The political atmosphere is further charged as Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Patna today. If Nitish Kumar indeed moves to the Rajya Sabha, it could trigger a major reshaping of leadership equations within the ruling National Democratic Alliance in Bihar.
