A fire incident at Begusarai Sadar Hospital has raised fresh concerns over safety standards in public healthcare facilities amid heightened alerts over fire accidents across the country. The blaze broke out on Monday evening in the meeting hall of the hospital’s Children’s Ward, triggering panic among patients and their families. Parents rushed to evacuate their children as the fire spread through the room. In a significant safety lapse, the hospital reportedly lacked adequate firefighting arrangements, forcing security personnel to use water to extinguish the flames before fire department equipment arrived. By the time firefighting resources reached the scene, the fire had already been brought under control. The incident damaged two chairs, a ceiling fan, and a curtain, but no patients or hospital staff were injured. Preliminary findings suggest that a short circuit may have caused the fire.
