A tragic boat accident triggered panic in Bihar after a passenger boat overturned in the Ganga River near the Uma Nath Ghat area of Barh, close to Patna. According to local officials, nearly 14 people were onboard when the vessel lost balance and capsized during strong winds and turbulent river conditions on Thursday evening. The sudden incident led to chaos along the riverbank as residents and emergency teams rushed to the spot to begin rescue operations. Authorities confirmed that two bodies have been recovered so far, while seven passengers were successfully rescued from the river with the help of local divers and SDRF personnel. Several others remain missing, and an intensive search operation is currently underway in the affected stretch of the Ganga. Rescue teams equipped with boats and diving gear are scanning the river continuously amid difficult conditions. Eyewitnesses stated that the boat was commonly used by villagers for daily transportation across the river. Panic spread quickly after the boat began taking in water before overturning completely. District administration officials, police teams, and State Disaster Response Force members are monitoring the operation closely and coordinating relief efforts at the site. The incident has once again raised serious concerns over river transport safety, overcrowding, and weather preparedness in flood-prone regions of Bihar. Officials have assured that every possible effort is being made to trace the missing passengers and provide support to affected families.
