A bizarre case of alleged forced marriage, popularly known as “Pakadwa Shaadi”, has resurfaced in Bihar’s Khagaria district, reviving memories of a practice once common in the 1980s. The incident involves a Man named Mannayam Kumar, who claims he was taken to another village on the pretext of buying a cow and was forcibly married at gunpoint. According to the groom, his mobile phone was snatched, he was assaulted, and pistols were placed on his head to compel him to perform the wedding rituals. Amid chaos, shouting, and his repeated attempts to escape, the marriage was completed at night. However, the bride has denied all allegations, stating that the marriage took place with mutual consent. She claims the groom knew her earlier, visited her often, and willingly participated in the ceremony. A second video has also surfaced showing the groom calmly performing rituals, which has added a new twist to the case. Following the incident, the groom’s family has lodged a police complaint, and authorities are now investigating all aspects of the matter.
