Bihar Election: Women Voters Lead the Way as Bihar Turns Out in Record Numbers for First Phase Polls

Patna, Bihar, Democracy is in full bloom as Bihar witnesses an impressive voter turnout in the first phase of assembly elections. At several polling booths across Patna, women voters are emerging as the true VIPs of democracy, leading the lines early in the morning and setting an inspiring example. Our correspondent Ankit Gupta, reporting from a VVIP booth in Patna, captured a heartwarming scene, a husband standing outside cradling his child while his wife votes inside, reflecting both participation and partnership in democracy. The Election Commission’s motto, “Pehle Matdaan, Phir Jalpan” (Vote first, then breakfast), has clearly resonated with families across the state. Senior journalist Rakesh Shukla highlighted that women’s voter participation in Bihar has consistently surpassed men’s by nearly 5%, proving decisive in previous elections. Schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Nari Samman Yojana, which credited ₹1,000 monthly to women’s accounts, may play a crucial role in this year’s outcome. From Bakhtiyarpur to Mokama, polling booths are adorned with rangolis, selfie points, and red carpets, reflecting both enthusiasm and pride. With women, youth, and first-time voters turning up in large numbers, Bihar’s democratic spirit shines brighter than ever today.
