Bihar Election: Tejashwi’s fierce attack on PM Modi and Election Commission over reservation row

As the campaigning for the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections concludes, political heat has intensified with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav launching a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commission. Addressing a rally, Tejashwi accused PM Modi of “eating up 65% reservation” and demanded accountability for his government’s 11-year rule. He alleged that no one is questioning the Centre on the issue of reservation, claiming that during his own 17-month government, Bihar had increased reservation to 65%, which has now been undermined. Tejashwi also raised serious allegations against the Election Commission, claiming that VVPAT slips were found in unusual circumstances and CCTV footage had gone missing from certain strong rooms. “If such incidents are happening, how can people trust the process?” he asked, urging the poll body to investigate. In response, the BJP hit back strongly, with leaders like Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary asserting that it was the NDA that ensured reservation and development in Bihar. He accused Tejashwi of misleading voters and reminded that Lalu Prasad Yadav himself tore the Women’s Reservation Bill, preventing it from passing for decades. BJP leaders further argued that their party has always supported reservation from the Mandal Commission to backward and women’s rights—while Congress and RJD have historically opposed it. With reservation emerging as a central theme in Bihar’s electoral narrative, both alliances are now using it to rally their respective vote banks ahead of the crucial November 11 polling.
