Big Tragedy: Suspected AC Blast Triggers Deadly Fire in East Delhi

A tragic fire broke out in a residential building in Vivek Vihar around 3:45–4:00 AM, claiming the lives of nine people and injuring several others. The blaze reportedly started due to a suspected AC compressor blast or short circuit and rapidly spread across the second, third, and fourth floors of a four-storey building. Residents were caught off guard while asleep, leaving many trapped inside due to thick smoke and blocked exits. Rescue teams managed to save around 15–20 people, while nine bodies have been recovered so far, including that of a child. Initial reports suggest that one family may have lost five members in the incident. Firefighters brought the blaze under control after a major operation, and cooling work is now nearly complete. However, forensic teams are still investigating the site to confirm the exact cause and ensure no one else is trapped. Eyewitness accounts describe a horrifying scene, with people attempting to escape to the rooftop but finding exit routes locked. The incident has raised serious concerns about fire safety compliance and building safety standards in Delhi.
