A major cabinet expansion is taking place in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. At present, the state cabinet has 54 ministers. In today’s expansion, eight leaders will take oath—six new ministers will be inducted, while two existing ministers will be promoted from Minister of State to Cabinet rank. The ceremony is scheduled in Lucknow, with strong emphasis on caste and regional balancing ahead of the elections. Among the key names is Hansraj Vishwakarma, who expressed gratitude to the party leadership and called it a responsibility to serve the organization. Other likely ministers include Bhupendra Chaudhary (Jat community), Kailash Rajput (Lodhi community), Krishna Paswan (Pasi community), Surendra Diler (Scheduled Caste), and Manoj Pandey (Brahmin community), reflecting a broad social representation strategy. Political analysts say the expansion is fully election-focused, aimed at strengthening BJP’s social coalition. No existing ministers are being dropped, but two are being elevated in rank. The move signals that the BJP is entering full election mode in Uttar Pradesh, with complete focus on 2027.
