The political confrontation in West Bengal has intensified as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a sharp counterattack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The BJP alleged that Mamata Banerjee is increasingly fearful of losing power and is therefore focusing her sympathy and political energy on Bangladeshi immigrants rather than citizens of West Bengal. According to BJP leaders, Mamata Banerjee has been making personal attacks on their members and attempting to shift the narrative by highlighting selective concerns. The controversy escalated after Mamata Banerjee claimed on social media that since the unrest began in Bengal, 28 people have lost their lives—some due to fear and some due to uncertainty.
