Bangladesh: Former Bangladesh PM Khaleda Zia Passes Away at 80 After Prolonged Illness

Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chief Khaleda Zia has passed away at the age of 80 after a prolonged illness. According to party sources, she was undergoing treatment in hospital and had been on ventilator support for nearly 20 days due to severe chest infection and related complications. Khaleda Zia’s son had recently returned to Bangladesh after spending years abroad for medical treatment. Her death comes at a crucial time when Bangladesh is witnessing intense political activity ahead of elections. Khaleda Zia served as Prime Minister multiple times and remained one of the most influential figures in Bangladeshi politics for decades.
